I want to be able to give a teaching experience that my students will love, and one way I will try to get that experience is through adding a little personal touch.

Learning material nowadays can be very similar between teachers. They don’t have a lot of time to attempt to personalize and make their experience unique outside of their personality differences. However, I will take some steps in order to attempt to make a lasting impact on those I will teach.

First off, I might add my love of music into the classroom. Playing some chill music that the class likes will help promote work and might lessen phone usage, as they won’t have to pull out their phones to listen to music and they can stay focused on the task at hand. I personally have had a good experience with classical music, but I know that it isn’t exactly a choice for most when listening to music while working. I’ll consult my class and have a compromise on what music they want to listen to while working. Establishing that connection will be a great icebreaker on what music taste they all have.

Another thing I will try to do is working with students on a personal level. Being able to converse with them specifically while teaching will allow me to better understand students learning styles and better make coursework and better explain new topics.

What I want most for my students for them not only to succeed, but to have a lasting impact, something they can take out of school and use in the real world. They may be learning math, but it’s the little things that they’ll take out of it which matter.
