To whom it may concern,

I am the Algebra teacher at Oakland High School and have had the pleasure of knowing Dominic Bradford for five years, since he was in my Algebra 1 class as an eighth grader. Dominic has excelled in both classes he has taken with me, and he continues to help peers when they have questions even outside of the classroom. He has spent some time tutoring others for a period each day both this year and last. If I have a student struggling with a topic and I feel they need it reiterated to them by a peer, Dominic is always one of my top choices. He is always a reliable student willing to do a little extra to help those around him.

Dominic also participates in some extracurricular activities. For instance, he is a vital member of the high school’s board game club which meets weekly. At the club, he is always doing his best to make others feel heard and welcomed. He has chosen to teach new games to the group, take a step back to let others play a game if there are too many, and let other members vent about their week to him.  Another example of his extra activities is his involvement with the school’s band. While this is a class for him, it does have requirements outside of the normal school hours that he is always helping with. He is required to show up for every football and basketball game with his parts to the songs basically memorized, he is the section leader for the low brass section so he must help make sure they are ready to perform, and he will be going to multiple competitions as well.

All in all, Dominic has been a great addition to the Oakland School District and has become a pillar of the student body. He is very reliable and has never missed a day in his four years at the high school. He is always trying to make sure his peers feel heard and receive help both for their academic needs as well as their social needs. He is intelligent, caring, and will be missed when he graduates with honors this fall.

Sincerely,

Austin Burke
