I wouldn’t be the person I am today without the ever-present love and support from my family! They’ve been with me every step of the way, and I couldn’t be more grateful to be in such a powerful and loving family. Here, I’ll talk a little bit about my family, and how they’ve each helped me grow.
First, my dad has shown me much about discipline and putting in the work to get things done. He is a self-employed mechanic who works day in and day out in order to meet the quota for the day. He has done all of his promotion through word of mouth and through his Facebook posts, where he shows various boat motors running. His determination and grit are traits I want to put into my career and education going forward, and is something I want to be able to show my students. You won’t get far by doing nothing productive. You’ve got to put your head in the game and start cracking at it, and only after hard work will come success.
My mom, conversely, has taught me a lot about my emotions and how to deal with them effectively and healthfully. We’re both very empathetic people, so we resonate very well and know how each other feel in similar situations. Being so empathetic means that I want to try to help as many people as possible. However, some people might not want my help, which has made me really sad in the past. My mom has taught me that, and she has helped me when my emotions have gone all over the place. I have learned how to help myself first, and that you can’t just keep giving yourself up over and over again, as you will get burnt out.
My sister has taught me about being creative and a little silly. We’re quite opposite, as she is always bouncing all over the place, talking to everyone, while I mostly keep to my small group of friends. However, sometimes, I need to be more outgoing. Sometimes, I need to be a little more silly, living in the moment. I can be a bit too serious at times, so being able to step back and live in the moment. Life’s too short to be serious all the time. Being silly and outgoing can really relieving of all of the stresses of daily life.
If one of you are reading this, I love you to the end of the observable universe and back <3
